Choose a PDF to split into separate documents
A PDF splitter is a tool that breaks a multi-page PDF document into smaller pieces — either by extracting specific page ranges, splitting every page into individual files, or dividing the document into equal chunks. It is the opposite of a PDF merger. ToolsWallet's PDF splitter runs entirely in your browser: your documents never leave your device, which is critical when working with confidential legal, medical, or financial PDFs.
Extract page range
Enter a range like "5-10" to extract pages 5 through 10 as a new PDF document.
Split every N pages
Split the PDF into multiple files, each containing N pages. Useful for splitting invoices or reports into equal chunks.
Extract individual pages
Save each page as its own separate PDF file. Useful when all pages need to be shared or filed individually.
Upload your PDF
Click or drag your PDF file into the upload area. The tool shows the total page count.
Choose split method
Select "Extract page range", "Split every N pages", or "Extract all pages individually".
Preview page thumbnails
View preview thumbnails to visually identify the pages you want to keep or extract.
Split and download
Click Split. Download the resulting PDF(s) individually or as a ZIP archive.
What is the difference between PDF split and PDF extract?
Splitting divides the whole PDF into sequential parts (e.g., pages 1-5, 6-10, 11-15). Extracting picks specific non-sequential pages (e.g., pages 1, 3, and 7). Our tool supports both.
Can I split password-protected PDFs?
No. Password-protected PDFs must be unlocked before splitting. Remove the password using a PDF password remover, then use the splitter.
Are my documents private?
Yes. All splitting happens in your browser using JavaScript. Your document is never uploaded to any server.
Can I preview pages before splitting?
Yes. The tool displays thumbnail previews so you can visually select the exact pages you want to extract.
What happens to the original PDF?
Your original PDF is never modified. Splitting produces new PDF files from the selected pages. The original remains unchanged on your device.
